Xiaomi Mi 4 Price in India for 16GB, 64GB models

Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone in India is also getting revised retail tags. And this has been carried out just a few days ahead of the company’s big premier phone launch in the country where a new and cheaper variant of the said handset will be announced.

According to the official Mi India Twitter account, the 16GB Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone will now sell for Rs 17999, while the 64GB model is up for grabs at Rs 19999. The previous rates were Rs 21999 and Rs 23999, respectively. Not only is the phone cheaper, it’s also more affordable than the OnePlus One which comes in the same memory configurations.

This is certainly a move that will favor Xiaomi, but the other Chinese OEM does have the upper-hand in a few aspects since its device runs on Lollipop based on the highly customizable Cyanogen OS 12 and has a much larger display. The Mi 4, on the other hand, still packs Android KitKat and offers a more compact design.

Here’s a quick recap of the Xiaomi Mi 4’s specs:
– Android 4.4 KitKat (MIUI 6)
– 5-inch 1920 x 1080p FHD touchscreen
– 3GB RAM, 16GB/64GB storage
– 8MP front camera, 13MP rear shooter
– 3080mAh battery
– 2.5GHz quad core Snapdragon 801 SOC

Xiaomi Mi 4 Launched in India at Rs 19,999

Xiaomi launched its much awaited Mi 4 smartphone in India today. While the device was launched in China in the middle of 2014, it has come to India only now. The Mi4 will be available on Flipkart at a price of Rs.19,999.

Just like other Xiaomi devices, it will be sold using flash sale model. This means consumers will have to register for it ahead of the sale.

Mi 4 will be on sale on February 10, and pre-registrations for the device will start at 6pm on January 28 through its e-commerce partner, Flipkart.

Just like other Xiaomi phones, the Mi 4 is also priced very aggressively, especially for the hardware it packs in.

The Mi 4 has a 5-inch screen with FullHD resolution. It uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.5GHz and 3GB RAM. It has 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera. The internal storage is 16GB. Unlike some other Xiaomi phones like the RedMi 1S and Note 4G, the Mi 4 lacks a microSD card slot.

However, the defining feature of the Mi is its design. While it seems a lot similar to the design of the iPhone 5S, complete with chamfered edges, there are differences. The Mi 4 uses a glass back cover instead of metal.

The Mi 4 comes with the new version of MiUI. It is MiUI version 6 and has a design that is flatter and more slick compared to the current version of MiUI.

Xiaomi said that with the launch of the Mi 4, it is also shifting gears in how it does business in India. "We have sold over 1 million phones in India in the last five months but we want to do more. This year we are going to renew our focus on customer care. Currently we have five exclusive customer care centres. We want to increase this number to 100 this year," said Manu Jain, who heads Xiaomi's India operations.

Commenting on the Mi 4 launch, Hugo Barra, vice president, Xiaomi Global, said: "I am truly excited to be bringing the Mi 4 to India, after listening to the feedback of so many fans. The Xiaomi team has put a lot of effort into designing a gorgeous device packed with powerful specs, and I trust that Mi 4 will be warmly welcomed by all our Indian fans. I believe India Mi fans will love MIUI 6, the most exciting update to our software platform to date."

Added Jain "The Mi 4 re-affirms our commitment to bring more Mi products to India. We will continue to work on offering our Mi fans incredible value as we introduce even more great devices in the coming year, and the best user experience ever."
