The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G has single-SIM support and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with the MIUI v5 skin on top. It features a similar 5.5-inch (720x1280 pixels) IPS-LCD display just like the existing Redmi Note.

Nokia Lumia 1320 Price in India is Rs. 20,369

Nokia Lumia 1320 has come with 6-inch display; 5 MP camera; Windows Phone 8; 1.7GHz dualcore processor; 1GB RAM; 8GB internal storage, expandable memory card slot, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth; 3400 mAh battery.

Nokia has never compromised on the design and hardware quality. It continues to have the finest hardware that feels sturdy to hold. The Nokia 1320 takes it advance with its sixinch display packed in bright colours.

The three traditional Windows keys for back, home (Windows) and search are positioned smartly below the display. It has curved edges with essential controls on side edges. The back is spotless with the camera at the top. At 220 grams, it does weigh a lot and the size makes it difficult to slide it in the pocket or use with one hand. But the size eliminates the need to buy a tablet separately.

The 1320 costs almost half of the Lumia 1520, but Nokia has scaled down the specifications. Instead of a quad-core processor, the 1320 gets a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. The 1GB RAM seems good enough and the pre-installed Internet Explorer 10 is fast. It comes loaded with some good apps including Microsoft Office. I had to configure a Windows account to install more apps. While the number of apps is growing, it is far behind Apple and Google app stores.

The device has a 5MP camera with a simple interface that doesn't offer a world of PureView settings. The images were pretty good during daylight but lack clarity at night. The 1320 packs in a big battery that manages to survive over a day.

The dashboard and the upholstery remind one of the Honda Amaze/Brio. There was also a faux wood inlay dash scheme which Honda ditched due to adverse feedback. This dashboard also comprised a sat nav system, reverse parking camera and the regular audio system with a video player.

Samsung has launched its first 4G Mobile Phone in India

It has been priced at a hefty Rs 53,500, which puts in the same league as the iPhone 5s, which also is a 4G phone in India. The 4G version of the S5 will go on sale in India from July 20. “We expect the 4G version to catch the imagination of technology enthusiasts and professionals, who demand superior smartphones for their heavy multimedia content consumption,” said Asim Warsi, vice president (marketing, mobile & IT), Samsung India, in a press statement.

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S5 3G was launched in India in April, and remains one of the best phones you could buy right now, despite the presence of the HTC One M8 (which is also getting 4G support) and the Sony Xperia Z2. The timing of the launch is curious though, as it comes just a day before LG launches the G3 in India. Clearly, Samsung wants the Galaxy S5 to remain in the limelight, which explains the launch of the 4G version.

Samsung has tied up with Airtel for data plans for buyers of the new model. Existing and new Airtel 4G subscribers will get 5GB 4G data per month free for two months, however, you will not be able to use the 4G in all circles, as the telecom provider has only now started bringing it to more circles.

The Galaxy S5 4G is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC seen in the 3G model. It’s clocked at 2.5 Ghz processor and the device supports eight 4G LTE bands.

4G services in Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore for mobile phones launched by Airtel

Telecom major Bharti Airtel today launched 4G Internet services for mobile phones in Chandigarh and neighbouring Mohali and Panchkula. "We are proud to announce the launch of the much-awaited 4G on mobile, empowering residents in the region to upgrade to 4G," Bharti Airtel's Hub CEO ? Upper North, Manu Sood, said here. While 4G services were introduced in the region last year through dongles, Airtel's mobile service customers could until now access the Internet only at 2G speeds. Chandigarh is the second city, after Bangalore, to get Airtel's 4G services on mobiles. Airtel customers using Apple's iPhone 5s or 5c have to upgrade their SIM card and select a 4G plan or pack to start using the faster Internet service on their handsets. Apart from the iPhone 5s and 5c, Airtel's 4G SIM will also work on Xolo LT 900 and LG G2 handsets, according to a company statement. "Customers will experience never-before capabilities like high-definition video streaming with zero buffering, downloading 10 movies in less than 30 minutes, uploading full holiday albums in less than five minutes by uploading 2 high quality photos per second and also connecting multiple devices without any experience constraint," the statement said. The company will provide 4G services starting at Rs 250 for 1 GB, equivalent to 3G rates. While data browsing will be on the 4G network, voice calls will be routed through Airtel's 2G network. Sood said as per industry estimates, 6 per cent of all mobile connections in India will use 4G services by 2016, which will be 36 per cent of total mobile data traffic. "Given the large mobile subscriber base and increasing penetration of affordable handsets, the number of mobile Internet users is expected to go up to 330 million by 2016," Sood said, adding that India has the third-largest Internet subscriber base in the world with more than 100 million users. Airtel offers 4G services in three other cities - Kolkata, Bangalore and Pune. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/airtel-launches-4g-services-for-mobile-phones-in-chandigarh-mohali-panchkula/469027-11.html

The newspaper cited official guidelines stating that no staff should be penalized for turning off their cellphone or failing to pick up messages after working hours "to prevent self-exploitation."

Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 launched

Samsung unveiled the Gear 2 and Gear Neo 2 smartwatches at Mobile World Congress (MWC) on Sunday, and as rumours had suggested, the devices shun Android in favour of Tizen.

The Gear 2 offers a number of improvements on the original Samsung Galaxy Gear. Chief among these is the addition of Tizen, with Samsung dumping Google's Android operating system in favour of its own open-source software, which should, according to the firm, make the devices nipper than the original model. This shift also sees Samsung dumping the Galaxy branding for its second-generation smartwatches.

However, despite running Tizen, it appears the smartwatches will still need to hook-up to a Samsung Galaxy smartphone in order to work, with the firm saying it will be compatible with more than 12 handsets at launch. We're assumng one of these will be the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Beyond software, the built-in 2MP camera now sits above the display, rather than on the strap of the device, which Samsung claims makes the device sleeker and more discreet than before. The Samsung Gear 2 Neo doesn't have a camera, suggesting it will be offered as a more affordable version.

Samsung has also added fitness sensors to both the Gear 2 and Gear Neo 2, including a heart rate monitor, pedometer, gyroscope and accelerometer, and sensors for tracking sleep and stress levels. Both watches also come with IP67 certification, which means they are resistant against dust and water.

These features arrive amid talk that Apple's mooted iWatch will focus on fitness, with the firm set to debut a bunch of health-focused features in iOS 8 this year.

The new models retain the original Galaxy Gear's 1.63in 320x320 AMOLED display and 512MB of RAM, although they have seen a bump in the processor department with a dual-core 1GHz chip under the hood, as opposed to the original's 800MHz offering. They also come with the addition of an IrLED sensor, which means you can use the watch to control your television, if you so desire.

There has been a downgrade in the battery department however, with the second-generation Gear devices featuring a 300mAh battery, compared to 315mAh. However, Samsung claims the two new watches will last longer than the original, promising two to three days of battery life.

Both the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo will be available to buy from April this year, but there's no word on pricing just yet.

BBM Beta Now Offers Stickers

Good news! BlackBerry has finally figured out how BBM will pose a warning to messaging giants like WhatsApp. It's... stickers. Yes, of all the things the company could do to get better its chat app, it's introducing the same sort of solely cosmetic decals that everyone else offers.
As with competitor services, those using a new BBM beta can buy themed sticker packs to express themselves in creative (and very cutesy) ways.

In all fairness, the addition may help BlackBerry court younger chatters. However, we hope that the phone maker has a lot more up its sleeve than this -- me-too upgrades can only go so far.Source

BBM users on Android and iPhone will now be able to make free voice calls to BBM contacts over a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection with BBM Voice, as well as access BBM Channels, a broadcast service, BlackBerry said in a statement.

The free voice call feature is already available for Blackberry handset users.

BBM Channels allows users to chat with other BBM users on topics of interest them. These range from products, hobbies and sports to entertainment, fashion and cars.

In addition to this, BBM users on Android, iPhone and BlackBerry smartphones will also get features like one-click sharing of photos, documents and voice notes.

"Today's announcement gives Android and iPhone customers the rich experience of BBM Voice and BBM Channels two great ways to connect with friends, family and colleagues, to build out communities around shared interests, and to follow your favourite people and brands," BlackBerry President (Global Enterprise Solutions) John Sims said.

Combining with the existing 60 million active BBM users worldwide, the total BBM base stood at 100 million as of November 30, 2013.

2014 Auto Expo: Hyundai Announces new Xcent sedan

Hyundai has announced its Grand i10 based sedan and has called it the Xcent. As many would be alert, one of Hyundai's highest and longest selling car in India was the Accent which was taken off the shelves last year. Clearly, the Accent must have had a handsome fan following for Hyundai to name the Grand i10 sedan the Xcent.

The Xcent which uses the same stage as the Grand i10 will also come with parallel engine options as the hatchback - one petrol (1.2-litre kappa 2) and one diesel (1.1-litre). We guess the power rating for the engines to remain unchanged as well. The Hyundai Xcent will also be accessible with manual and automatic gearbox options in petrol and a 5-speed manual on the diesel.

On the inside, the design has been carried ahead almost as is from the hatchback and given the already complete equipment list the Grand i10 comes with, similar list of features will hold the Xcent in good stead in its class against the Dzire and the Amaze. It gets rear AC vents, smart key push button entry and start, 15in alloys, auto folding electric ORVMs and one touch trunk opening. It will also get a cooled glovebox, steering minted controls and Bluetooth telephony. In terms of safety, the top of the line version oft he Xcent to be badged Asta, will get abs, dual airbags and rear parking assist as standard.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio Review

After a remarkably quiet 2013 Maruti Suzuki has begun spreading its gigantic wings all over 2014. They begin the year with a brand new offering aimed squarely at the Indian market. The Celerio, if you aren't aware of it by now, is a hatchback that will eventually replace the A-Star and the Estilo.

The Celerio is built on an all-new platform that has been in the making for close to three and a half years. A team of around 175 designers, engineers, product planners, visualisers, marketeers etc from both India and Japan have combined their efforts to this end. Except whoever came up with a name that sounds like a veggie in a salad mated to Mahindra's favourite latter is anyone's guess. According to Mayank Pareek, COO Maruti Suzuki, Celerio means a 'celestial river', but don't ask me what's the connect, I'm as clueless as you and many Maruti Suzuki employees are!

But get past the name and what you can clearly see its antecedents in the Alto, there are definitely faint hints of inspiration from Maruti's largest selling car.

From various angles the Celerio brings to mind the Toyota Etios Liva, especially that smiling grille with the twin smiling slats flanking the Suzuki Logo. In fact, if you took off the Suzuki logo and replaced it with a Toyota badge you could easily fool anyone into mistaking this car for the latter. As it is, driving this car on the busy roads around Jodhpur did not elicit much interest from the very people who would in the near future be buying this car, the aam janta! And let me tell you in the past there hasn't been a single new car that hasn't grabbed attention on these drives.

At the front, the bumper is a strong element of the design and looks sturdy and well-sculpted, though the inverted curve to the lower air dam and the single fog lamps scooped inside the bumper continue to remind you of the Etios Liva. I like the hood which has this slight clamshell effect to it and gives the Celerio a sporty character.

The side profile is sculpted with two sweeping character lines that appear running parallel to each other. The one running along the shoulder starts at the fender and sweeps upwards towards the rear window with a sculpted kink. The outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn lamps and smaller indicator lamps on the fenders are the only ornaments that give this profile a sparkle. The rear is my least favourite area. The tallish tail lamps look a bit out of place, though the chunky bumpers look quite in sync with the rest of the body shell. The rear tail gate can only be accessed from the outside and not from within the car.

Where dimensions are concerned, the Celerio is comfortably long and wide, though to put it in comparison, it's shorter in length than the Hyundai Grand i10 though taller by a few inches. At 2.425 metres, however, both hatchbacks share the same wheelbase and that also means the Celerio has substantial amounts of interior space, especially knee room, just like the Grand i10.

The cabin like every contemporary Maruti is outstanding. The quality levels are top notch and the design and layout is simple, effective and yet stunning to look at. The centre console is a smart-looking unit surrounded by a chrome bezel within which the music player and the air-con controls are housed. The steering wheel too looks pleasing, but it's the top-end variant, the ZXi, that gets the audio and Bluetooth telephony controls on the steering wheel.

The slim seats with the integrated headrests liberate loads of interior space, though I can't say for certain how comfortable these will be over long distances. The ZXi (optional) variant gets height adjustable seats as well as front fog lamps and alloy wheels as standard.

Now for the mechanicals and the driving bit, the Celerio at present comes only with a 998cc 3-cylinder petrol engine. A diesel will follow but nothing has been set in stone yet. This petrol motor is an updated engine that uses aluminum in its construction and is named the K10B; it's also called as the K-Next engine. Maruti has worked hard to lower the NVH levels, and while at idle this engine is impressively quiet, as speeds rise it has that typical whine I've heard in every small displacement Maruti as you push the engine harder and harder.

The 4-valve per cylinder arrangement allows it to make 68PS of max power and 90Nm of max torque. Now those figures aren't as hearty as those pumped out by the Grand i10, which has a larger displacement engine, but it's the transmission that makes all the difference in the Celerio.

The transmission has been big news for some time as Maruti claimed to offer a clutchless driving experience in the Celerio. I'd like to point out at this moment that it's not because of an automatic transmission. Innovatively, Maruti is using what is called an automated manual transmission, which basically is a sort of a gadget that takes care of the duties of the clutch without there being a clutch pedal in the driver's foot well. So instead of a manual gear shift stick you get something that looks like an automatic shifter, except if you look closely you won't see a park mode. Auto Expo 2014: Maruti Suzuki unveils Ciaz sedan crossover, SX4 S-Cross concept models

India's car market leader Maruti Suzuki India unveiled two concept models - sedan Ciaz and crossover SX4 S-Cross - as it looks to enhance its position in the bigger sedan segment going forward.

Amid a slowdown in the market, the company said it was looking to achieve sales it had in last fiscal year in 2013-14. "The SX4 S-Cross and Ciaz are models to expand our product range in future," Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa told reporters here at the Auto Expo.

Expressing optimism about the Indian market, he said in the last 30 years since its inception, MSI has sold 12 million vehicles but it covered only one per cent of the country. "We have the other 99 per cent to cover," Ayukawa said. Commenting on the importance of the two new concepts unveiled here, Suzuki Motor Corporation Executive Vice President T Suzuki said: "In 2004, we had the first global model launch of Swift and these two are in line with that...The two cars we are unveiling today are aimed to meet the growing demand of sedans in India, China and elsewhere."

He said since 1955, Suzuki has sold 50 million vehicles.

Commenting on the sales prospects for this year, Ayukawa said: "The automobile market in India is on a slowdown. Our effort is to achieve sales of last (fiscal) year in this year."

The company had registered sales of around 10.6 lakh units in the domestic market in 2012-13. The concept Ciaz, as and when it hits the market will compete with the likes of Honda City and Hyundai Verna in the C segment sedans. Apart from the two concepts, MSI is displaying 14 different models, including variants of existing models such as Swift, Alto, Ritz, Ertiga and Dzire.
